Parents and Guardians of Doering students,

Welcome to Roberta Doering! We’re excited to get the year off and running by welcoming back staff on September 1st and of course our students on September 7th.

Schedule information was opened on PowerSchool student and parent portals last Monday. PowerSchool is an important tool that we strongly encourage all families to activate if they have not already done so. The version of this letter sent home to families includes a help document for setting up a parent account. You may call us here at Doering, and we will be happy to assist you.

Counselors are currently working to place all students new to the district into homerooms. If you have not already been contacted, a counselor will be reaching out to you in the next day or so.

Exciting changes and improvements have been made over the summer at RGD. Work is set to start next week on a new digital sign in the front of the building which will be accompanied by a new bike rack. Classrooms are also in the process of having new flooring installed. The old tiles have been removed and the floors are being leveled and surfaced with a laminate wood flooring.

In addition to these physical changes, we will be adopting a major schedule change this school year.

Under our new schedule, students’ academic days will include:
● 70 minutes each of ELA and Math
● 40 minutes each of Science and Social Studies
● 30 minute intervention/enrichment block, WIN (What I Need)
● 70 minute Special (Art, Music, Computer, STEM, PE)

Because Back to School Night for Doering is so early in the year, we will not be hosting an orientation for new parents prior to the start of school. Instead, we have attached directions for car drop off and pick up, and will review all other pertinent information on September 8th in the auditorium at the start of Back to School Night.

I look forward to partnering with you for a productive school year and hope to see you on September 8th at 6:30.

Thank you,
Thomas Schnepp, Principal
